The Blue Mountains Charleston Challenge
Saturday 7th February 2015
Online Registrations will be available shortly.
Onsite Bookings from 9am-11am on the day.
Dance your way into history by joining the Blue Mountains Charleston Challenge attempt to break our very own Guinness World Record for the largest number of costumed people to dance the Charleston.
In 2013, 276 dancers helped set a new record. In 2014, this inreased to 319! In 2015, we're looking for 350 dancers - are you going to make history?
Simply wear a 1920s-themed costume (a feather boa, string of pearls or a black dress will do or, for men, a dapper suit and fedora hat) and dance continuously for five minutes. Practice sessions will be held on-site throughout the morning and dance leaders will be stationed along The Mall during the attempt.
Choreographed and led by Amanda Pavlic from Let’s Moove n Groove Dance & DJ Services, you’ll be leg-swinging & foot-tapping in no time!
Trains from Sydney’s Central will arrive at Leura station at 10.16am on the day, just in time to register and practice before the countdown begins.
Date: Saturday 7th February 2015
Official Proceedings & Challenge Starts at 11.00am
Cost: A Gold Coin Donation, proceeds to The Rural Fire Service.
Immediately following the dancing will be the Long Lunch in Leura, under the marquee on the other side of Leura Mall! The lunch will be gourmet picnic style fare, with lots of options from 'bring your own' to pre-ordering an indulgent local picnic hamper box from the finest providores in the region, and there will be prizes galore for best dress table, lady, man, couple and hat!
